A sunday ramble

Today was an absolutely beautiful day. All blue skies and actually warm! So we got ready and decided to go for a walk. Our ultimate destination was Finsbury Park, but we went there via Clissold Park and a scenic walk along a canal.

I took a multitude of photos, inlcuding ones of bunnies and deer that we found in Clissold Park. They’re all available on my Flickr page.

We decided to walk instead of bussing, and found all sorts of new places that we’d never been to before in behind Stoke Newington. The best place name was St Pauls Shrubbery which brought out all interesting quotes. I’m sure you can guess the one’s I mean but for some reason I can’t type the name here.

We found lots of places that we’d like to live :) none of which we could ever afford but it’s nice to dream.

Clissold Park was beautiful and filled with interesting people, including a guy who’d set up a tightrope between two trees. :)

Tightrope walking

This tree was kinda baffling…why is there a wicker ball in it??

In the middle of the park there’s a deer enclosure that also had bunnys! and pygmy goats.

Bunny!

This bunny had had a big day. It’s hard work being a bunny!

Duuude

This guy was all on his own and he looks a bit wasted, the poor thing. :)

After making our way through the park, we found a sign that pointed out a path along a canal to Finsbury Park. We were feeling adventurous, so decided to go that way and it was so very fun. :) It honestly felt like being 6 again, rambling through the mud and thorn bushes (which I think were blackberry brambles!) along the canal. It was actually warm, and even though I’d worn a coat, it soon came off and I was then just in a flimsy dress. It was delightful.

Path

There were about 4 different parts to the canal walk which gradually got dirtier and dirtier, but the first two sections were beautiful. It felt like being back at the Gold Coast, all blue skies and warmth and lots of water. And there were ducks and swans and water hens everywhere.

It was really the perfect way to spend a sunday. rambling and adventuring and discovering lots of new places. :)
